Example: Hosting Japanese visitors

Did you know...
  • that Japanese tourists prefer single to double beds?
  • like to have menus and information printed in Japanese?
  • don't like sleeping in hotel rooms overlooking the street?
  • are used to being given hot or cold towels in restaurants?
  • enjoy a cup of green tea in their room?

Japanese tourists are coming to Ireland in increasing numbers. Last year alone saw a growth of 44% and with the launch of a new Japanese guidebook to Ireland and a new company promoting Ireland in Japan, the growth is certain to continue. Given the strong growth in this market and its economic potential, it is vital that those in the industry appreciate various aspects of Japanese culture including the attitudes, expectations and preferences of the Japanese tourist in Ireland.

We design specialised courses to meet the needs and interests of those hosting Japanese guests in the tourist industry. These courses will develop basic skills and knowledge required to ensure positive experiences amongst the tourists that visit, repeat business from Japanese customers, and subsequent further growth in this sector.

We can also organise translation of important materials such as information packages, menus and webpages (did you know that research shows that more than 50% of Japanese people leave a website that is not in Japanese?).
